How to Build a House in Build Whatever

A first house in Build Whatever! should be a room you can walk through after you log out. That sounds obvious until you watch a public lobby turn a half-finished roof into fireworks. This page is the house-shaped version of Getting Started. It assumes the game is live on Roblox, free, and online. It does not assume you bought a biome pack.

Host before you place a wall

Open the listing by Blazely Games Sandbox, place 114381378262504. Create or rejoin a free private server. Paid VIP is not the save path — the official description is explicit, and the universe still has paid VIP creation turned off. If you skip this step, you are practicing demolition, not architecture. The save guide and the server advisor exist for the same reason.

Wait for the toolbar. Place a marker block you will recognize after a rejoin — a bright floor tile in a corner works. If that tile is gone when you come back, you were never in a persisting instance.

Floor, then walls, then one door

Start with a floor larger than your avatar. A 6-by-6 pad is enough for a first room. Keep the pieces on one height so you are not chasing a stair you did not mean to build. Use the rotate habit from controls so edges meet. A gap you can see in third person is a gap a friend will walk through.

Raise four walls from the floor edge, not from a floating stud. Stop at two or three blocks high. A cathedral on day one teaches camera panic, not structure. Leave one opening the width of your character. That is the door. Do not punch random window holes until the box closes, or you will lose the wall line and start stacking patches.

Walk the interior in first person. If you clip through a wall, the part is too thin or the camera lied. Fix it now. This sandbox does not owe you an undo button.

Roof without flying

You can roof a one-room box from the ground. Stand outside, raise the camera, and place ceiling pieces inward from the wall tops. Overhang one stud if you want a porch lip. Do not stand on a half-placed roof and spam — that is how floating lids happen.

Interior that reads as a house

A bench, a window after the box is closed, and a lighter floor so seams show. That is a house. Furniture Pack and Doors Pack make the same room look intentional, but they are optional. Do not buy Railway, Cherry, Garden, Ice, Glass, and Rainbow on the same night. One theme plus paint beats a souvenir shop. The Gamepass picker exists so the store does not design the house for you.

What ruins a first house

• Building in a public 22-player lobby because it loaded first
• Starting with a castle footprint you cannot roof
• Buying Bat, Sling Shot, or Infinite TNT “to edit faster” and then testing them on your own wall
• Inviting three friends before anyone agrees the plot is a workshop, not a wreck yard — read play with friends
• Leaving the marker block out, then claiming the save system failed

Public grief is advertised. If you want to show the house off, clone the idea in public after the private original exists. Protect your build and deal with trolls are for that second copy, not for the save you live in.

Rejoin test, then a second room

Leave the experience and rejoin the same private server. Walk through the door. If the marker and the room load, you have a house. Add a second room sharing one wall, or a three-wall courtyard. Stop for the night while it still looks like a decision.
